Frequently Asked Questions

Can I send more than the required three letters of recommendation?
There is no maximum number of letters that you can submit via your ERAS application, only a minimum of three. Feel free to upload as many as you wish!

Do I have to have a letter of recommendation from the Ortho Program Director at my institution?
We hope that during your 4th year orthopaedic rotations, you were afforded ample opportunity to work with the Orthopaedic Program Director. Therefore, it is strongly recommended that you have a letter from your orthopaedic program director. If that is not possible, we recommend that you try to get a letter from the Department or Division Chair. However, it is more important that you have three very strong letters of recommendation than a weak letter from someone that can't really assess your performance.

Do I need to send any materials in addition to those required by the ERAS application?
No! The standard ERAS application is all that is required. Please do not mail anything separately in hard copy form. We do not require anything else, including MCAT scores, SAT scores, etc.

How should I submit my CV?
The ERAS generated CV is all that is required. You do not need to attach an additional CV to your application. You also do not have to mail a hard copy of your CV.

My school does not release Dean's Letters until November 3. Is this a problem since your deadline is October 15?
We understand that all schools will not release Dean's Letters until November 3. Therefore, the October 15 deadline is for all application materials, excluding the Dean's Letter. Applications that are not complete (i.e. three letters of recommendation, transcripts, USMLE scores, personal statement, ERAS CV) as of dealine, will not be considered.

When and how will invitations to interview be sent out?
Invitations to interview will be sent via e-mail in early November.
