OSU Hand  & Upper Extremity Center

Access to practitioners specifically trained in hand surgery and rehabilitation is particularly important to patients suffering from arthritis, overuse injuries and fractures because of the delicate anatomy of the hand, wrist, shoulder and elbow. Our comprehensive program brings together physicians, surgeons and clinicians associated with orthopaedic and plastic surgery, occupational therapy, anesthesiology, neurology and outpatient rehabilitation services. These professionals work as a patient-care team to monitor patients' progress and coordinate care for comprehensive hand, wrist and upper extremity treatment.

In addition, patients benefit from Ohio State research that can be quickly translated to clinical applications

Range of Services
With the medical and surgical options available at Ohio State, including microsurgery, reconstructive surgery and joint replacement surgery, our team can treat conditions ranging from arthritic fingers to severed hands, as well as:

  • carpal tunnel syndrome
  • distal radio-ulnar conditions
  • joint replacement
  • crush injuries
  • fractures
  • tendon lacerations
  • severed nerves
  • dislocations

Ohio State's fellowship-trained hand surgeons performed more than 2,000 surgeries, treatments and procedures last year.

Trauma
Designated a Level 1 Trauma Center by the American College of Surgeons, Ohio State's trauma services provide care for all levels of trauma, from the complex multiple-injury patient to isolated limb injury and fracture.

Our unique center is designed so patients can receive evaluation diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation in the same, convenient location. This allows for greater patient satisfactions and because we are a multi-disciplinary team - it allows for better patient outcomes as well.  Patients can receive care in our new Hand Center at 915 Olentangy River Road.
